November 19 In Her ShoesREVIEW: IN HER SHOES
There are movies that you watch and you remember them forever. Then there are those that are forgetfull, yet still worth your while. This is one of those movies. Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette had awesome chemistry, and even as you left the theatre you were still convinced that in real life they were sisters. The actors supported each other really well and they blended nicely. But no doubt, it was still a chick flick. So males beware.
Maggie and Rose are two sisters that couldn't be more different. You have Maggie, the ultra-party girl who craves on getting drunk and hooking up with guys. Then there's Rose, the sister that keeps things to herself and is more conservative, and when the two sisters clash everyone watch out!
This film is a great showing of sibling rivalry, and also one of the best acted ones of the year. Toni Collette has had my attention ever since the movie 'About A Boy'. Toni bears the pain of having to carry the film because her character is central to the story, and she does a great job. She is convincing as the grumy older sister of Maggie. Shirley MacLaine is the ornery, estranged grandmother. The film starts kind of slow, but gets much better and eventually becomes worth the ticket admission. This shoe definatly fits.
I give this movie 4/5 stars ****5
October 30 Question from QueenPadme_20051 QueenPadme_29951from http://spaces.msn.com/memebers/QueenPadme2005 asks:
"Hey I just wanted to say I love this idea for a space. I never know what's on TV...so I wind up missing a lot of stuff. But other than Will and Grace and Possibly ER if I stay wake (i got to get up early for work tomorrow...) is there anything else on Thursday Nights to Watch? I lost interest in the Apprentace after season 2, and don't care for Joey. I don't know what's on any of the other channels either, since I mainly watch NBC. I only have local channels: Fox, CBS, NBC, PBS, WB, ABC, and UPN. Also I'm wondering about Friday nights. I know Hope and Faith is on ABC, but I'm not sure what time...and is the one show with the mom from the bundies still on...um 8 simple rules I think was the name of it. What about Less than perfect? Is that still on?"
Hey! Thanks for visiting! Thursday nighrs is probably the best and worst night for television. It's the best because a bunch of TV shows come on, and it's the worst because you always have to choose one show over another. There is...
Drama:
Alias (ABC) (the show that got me into Television): http://abc.go.com/primetime/alias/index.html
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation(CBS): http://www.cbs.com/primetime/csi/
Night Stalker(ABC): http://abc.go.com/primetime/nightstalker/index.html
Without a Trace(CBS): http://www.cbs.com/primetime/without_a_trace/
Teen Drama:
Smalllville(WB): http://thewb.warnerbros.com/web/show.jsp?id=SM
Everwood(WB): http://thewb.warnerbros.com/web/show.jsp?id=EW
Reality (other then Apprentice because you said you didn't like it anymore):
Survivor(CBS) (the best reality show out there, in my opinon): http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor11/
Now that's Thursday nights. As you can tell, more of a dramatic night than a comedic one.
Friday nights doesn't have as much going on as the other weekdays. You have...
Comedy:
The Bernie Mac Show(FOX)- http://www.fox.com/berniemac/
Malcom in the Middle(FOX)- http://www.fox.com/malcolm/
Drama:
Killer Instinct(FOX)- http://www.fox.com/killerinstinct/
Threshold(CBS)- http://www.cbs.com/primetime/threshold/
Law & Order: Criminal Intent- http://www.nbc.com/Law_&_Order:_Criminal_Intent/
Ghost Whisperer(CBS)- http://www.cbs.com/primetime/ghost_whisperer/
NUMB3RS(CBS)- http://www.cbs.com/primetime/numb3rs/
That's about it for Friday's.
8 Simple Rules has been cancelled. And personally, without John Ritter the show just wasn't the same. And as for Less than Perfect (which I love) It's still on: http://abc.go.com/primetime/lessthanperfect/index.html
Well, I hope that answered some questions!

October 09 FlightplanREVIEW: FLIGHTPLAN
I've been a Jodie Foster fan for as long as I can remember. When I hear that she's going to be in a movie I expect the best of the best. And although the film was a major step down for the talented actress, it still wasn't half bad.
When six year old Julia Pratt gets lost on an airplane at 30,000 feet in the air, her mother Kyle is thrown through an emotional loop of anxiety and confusion as she looks desperatly for her daughter. And with the flight attendants in disbelief that Julia ever boarded the plan, and the pilot getting frustrated with Kyle disturbing the passengers, the audience observes and sympathizes with a mother doing whatever she can to find her daughter, no matter what.
The movie was good, but forgettable. Plus, it's very predictable. I guessed the ending at the beginning. Hard core fans of Foster will love it, but fans who know a good and bad movie will realize that is wasn't that great.
I give this movie a 2.5/5 stars **.5345
October 01 Into The BlueREVIEW: INTO THE BLUE
Jessica Alba and Paul Walker were well casted, look wise. But when they opened their mouths, the chemistry just wasn't there. But I don't believe director John Stockwell cared about that, because the whole movie was a bunch of pretty people swimming. I mean, looks keep your interest for a second, but eventually you sit there wondering "Where's this movie going?"
In the nice sand and ocean of the Bahamas lies two fortune hunters Jared and Sam. They're living their lives paycheck-to-paycheck, hoping to one day get enough money to start a bigger and better life. But when their friend Bryce and his extended one-night-stand girl, Amanda come down for a visit, a routine diving excursion reveals a long lost pirate wreck, along with a crashed airplane with a cargo filled with cocaine. With thoughts of money flowing through their heads, the four start exploring the wreck farther, but when the lure of easy money typically associated with drug dealing proves too much, trouble starts to come out from every corner, threatening their find and the treasures that lie within.
I wasn't impressed by this movie. Every once in a while, I'd be interested, but then Paul Walker would put his shirt back on and I'd be bored again =) Jessica Alba can do so much more, I just know it. And I'm waiting for her to take that one role that will prove her talent. I won't write that it was a good movie, but I will say that if you're into the "teen" type movies you'll probably like it. Unfortunatly, I'm not one of those people.
I give this movie 2/5 stars **345 September 24 The Brothers GrimmREVIEW: THE BROTHERS GRIMM
Wow. Matt Damon and Heath Ledger must have been high. What were they thinking? Seriously. If the man who made the very first movie knew that this movie was coming, he would have never made his first movie. The script was awful so awful that sometimes I didn't even know what was going on. It was way to hard to follow. Character development was terrible. And don't even get me started on the cheezy special effects. I felt like I was watching 'The Wiggles'.
The story revolves around the legendary German brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. Jake and Will travell from village to village pretending to protect townspeople from enchanted creatures and pulling off exorcisms. But They're put to the test when they encounter a real magical curse, requiring genuine courage.
The movie is what I like to call the three B's. A Big Budget Bore. I don't think there was one thing that entertained me in this movie. I wanted to fall asleep after the first scene. This film is possibly the worst movie of 2005.
I give this movie 1/5 Stars *2345 September 21 I've been tagged.....again.So yea...totally been tagged again.

7 people I tagged
Nobody. But if someone wants to do it and say I tagged them. Go For it! September 17 Red EyeREVIEW: RED EYE
It is a rare occasion when I am impressed or intrigued by a Wes Craven movie. This was one of these occasions. Rachel McAdams was the perfect casting for this role. The audience can't take their eyes off of her. Even when she's not on the screen you're wondering where she is and when she'll come back. I believe Mr.Craven owes Rachel a huge hug for the success of this movie.
After the drama of attending the funeral of her grandmother in Dallas, Lisa Reisert must take the dreaded red eye flight back to Miami to make it to work the next day. After her flight is delayed, her day get a little better after Lisa soon meets Jackson Ripner and their attraction grows. But seconds after take-off, Jackson reveals to Lisa her father's wallet that his partner swiped off his desk and his real reason for being on board. Jackson needs Lisa's help to assasinate the deputy secretary of Homeland Security and his family who's scheduled to stay at the Lux Atlantic Hotel, the hotel Lisa is the manager of. If she refuses to help, Jackson will then call his partner on the ground and have her father killed. When you're at 30,00 feet, you have no where to run and no time for rash judgement.
The tension in this movie is outstanding. Craven did a great job at getting the audience on the edge of their seat. It's one of those movies where you wished it never ended. But when it does, you leave satisfied. Actor Cillian Murphy, just as in 'Batman Begins', did a great job as the villian. But if he wants my advice, I'd go ahead and play another character before being typecast as the 'bad guy'. Getting typecasted at the beginning of a career is a real booger bear, and a hard one to run away from. All in all, this movie was decent. I would definatly recommend it. If Wes Craven continues to make movies like this, I will easily become a fan of his films. Don't let me down Wes.
I give this movie 3.5/5 stars ***.545 September 10 My day Helping Out the Hurricane Katrina Victims.....As some of you already know, on Labor Day Weekend I went to the Hilton Hotel and helped out the Hurricane Katrina Victims. When I mentioned that I got a comment by Stefano...
"Oh wow! That's very kind of you :) I wish I was there too. Will you make a blog about it? Of what you've seen, the mood, how it feels like, etc.? I'm interested to know how it's like :) ttyl!"
I thought that was a wonderful idea! So here it goes....
I walked into the Hotel with my friends Angelica, Janet, and their father not knowing what to expect. What do I say to the victims? If I ask them about their old life will they get sad? Will I cry before they do? I walked up the stairs. A lady and her friend passed us saying something about not wanting to get a job and how the goverment should be the one giving her money. Another women passed us with a beautiful smile. I was once again filed with mixed feelings. How are these people going to act?
We opened the front door into the huge room filled with people. Some volunteers and most victims. There was a section for kids to play in while their parents or guardians found apartments to stay in. There was another section filled with computers so people could find jobs and/or look up any questions they were having. And in the back, there was food. We all went and signed up saying we were volunteers and the lady there asigned us jobs. Angelica, Janet, and I were going to be playing with the children while their dad was going to be doing conseling. As we walked over to the kids, all I could do was look around. The room was full of 200 people, and expecting more in the afternoon.
When we got to the kids we didn't really know where we'd fit in. All the kids seemed to be laughing and having a good time, they didn't seem like they needed us. I walked around for a couple of minutes and talked to two boys named Kenneth and Emilious, they were playing Battleship and were extremly focused, I eventually left them alone (I didn't want to cramp their style). I walked over to Angelica who was just as confused about how she could contribute as I was. After making another walk around the kids we left that section knowing that there has got to be a way to actually do something. At that second we saw one of our friends, Taryn. We talked to Taryn for a while knowing that she'd probably find something to do, boredom is not an option for Taryn.
I looked around and noticed the room becomming more and more full. It became filled with confusion yet relief. I heard one volunteer talk to a woman with two kids. She asked how old the kids were and if they were getting registered for school. The woman responded that she had no idea what grade the kids were in. The volunteer gave a strang look. "Well aren't you the mother?" The woman shot a sad look. "I'm the Aunt. The parents didn't make it."
We walked trying to find adults who wanted a break from their kids for a while. That's when we meet Derek and Jordyn. They were cousins and the cutest kids ever. Derek was three and Jordyn was four. We took them outside and played some basketball and Derek began his obsession with blowing bubbles. He was blowing them constantly. Inside and outside, everywhere! As we walked inside I met a goregous little girl. Her mom was off to find a job and asked if we could take care of her little girl. I knelt down to her height and asked her what her name was. She answered with a "briamamama" type of mumble. I asked her how old she was, three. I had a feeling three year olds couldn't write, but I gave it a shot. I told her to write down her name and she said she could. But when given the pen and paper she scribbled. Then thank goodness Angelica figured out through the mumble that her name was Brianna.
I hung out with Derek, Jordyn, and Brianna for four hours. They rode on our backs, colored, ate food, and even rode around on a little wagon that Angelica pushed with us. I was actually having fun bonding with them. I wished that today wasn't going to be the only day that I saw them. And I realized that this very day would probably be the last time I ever saw them. Janets dad came and found us and said that it was time to leave. We all looked at each other sad. I picked up Brianna and she gave me a big hug, my heart melted. I returned her to her mother and gave her a big kiss on the cheek and told her to be a good girl for her mom. I said good bye and then turned to Jordyn and Derek. Jordyn was first. I gave her a hug and told her she was a beautiful little girl and told her to take care of her cousin Derek. She nodded like a big girl and walked away. Then there was Derek, the little goofball obsessed with bubbles. I found a bottle of bubbles and gave it to him. I told him to have a good time in Texas. He was so focused on the bubbles that I don't think he was even listening. But I still gave him a kiss on the cheek and sent him on his way. I knew that given their age, Derek, Jordyn, and Brianna would probably forget about me in a year. But I will always remember them and the experiences that I had. And wherever they are, I hope that they're safe.
As we were all walking out of the hotel, we were quiet. Still soaking in the blessing we were just given by being able to help out. The door to exit opened and Angelica's dad, Charles, noticed two women sitting outside and asked them how they were doing. They answered with a yes and thanked all of us for helping out. The mood changed though when he asked the women if they knew God. One women said she was no longer speaking to God, and blamed him for their pain. Charles then spoke to them about the greatness of God and how he loves them more then they can possibly imagine. And before I knew it all three of them were holding hands and the two women were getting saved right before my eyes. I got teary eyed, for seeing people asking the Lord into their heart is such a beautiful thing.
The experience was great. I will never forget it. My heart and prayers go for everyone involved in Katrina.

September 04 Question From FinalCrutchesFinalCrutches from
"Hiya! My mom had bought a new television about two months ago along with a dvd/vcr player since our old one was, well, old. However, we can't watch any of out local stations, if you know what I mean. The picture is either so fuzzy we can't see or hear anything, or it's just completely knocked out, and I'm sick of watching videos all day.lol Also, I've heard that you can watch your favorite tv shows online, but I don't know where to begin with that. Do you have any advice? If you don't, it's okay.. mostly because Mom won't really let me watch any tv with school starting and all, hee hee!"
Hey there! I recently got into the the whole "watching television on the computer" myself. But I must say, it's pretty cool. The only problem, most of the websites that give you your shows cost money. But have no fear! www.kazaa.com is one of the very few that are free, but it's still good. All you have to do is sign up (free) and then you can search for the shows you want to watch. Pretty amazing, eh?
I know you all have questions! Feel free to ask! Go to the 'Got Questions' category and I'll have an answer for you. |
